2012

2012

So, it is 2012. I don’t like to think about the end of a year or the beginning of a new one, as I see the time as a continuous flow (and IF I need to split a year, it is Summer for me splitting it in two parts).

Anyway, 2012 will be the Alan Turing Year. Time to celebrate 🙂
I am planning to visit the UK again this year, and take a look at the exhibitions of the London’s science museum and the museum of Manchester, other than try to visit Bletchey Park.

The past months were plenty of events, and just to join the crowd of people stating their resolutions for the new year (and inspired by this nice article) I think that I want to keep my home cleaner, work out more regularly and start eating healthier. Not sure about become a vegetarian, but I would like to reduce the amount of meat in my life.

Oh, and apparently I will visit Shangai this year for IPDPS 2012 😀

Utrecht

Utrecht

Utrecht

Utrecht is a town that I like. Don’t know why actually. Well, if we should analyze this thing I can say that has always been connected with people leaving (the country the first time, my life the second time). So better not to go with me to Utrecht if you fancy to still be in touch with me 🙂

However, thinking about Utrecht made me publish a picture on the Internet after quite a while. Weird.

Holidays

Holidays

Working at home today. Between an experiment and the following one, between a “make” and plotting some graphs, I look outside my window and see a pale sun. Anyway, a pale sun is better than the usual rain. I also see many people with their trolleys going around. This reminds me that the first time I came in this neighborhood it was the 18th of August of 2009. So, while I will be in Italy for few days of rest, sun (I hope) and parties with my friends, new students will arrive here, bringing new life in Uilenstede.
It is somewhat exciting to remember how I felt my first time here, and I hope all the new students will have fun and learn something as I did a couple of years ago.

So, have fun everyone, and see you again at the VU in a while 🙂

Random bubbly bubbles

Random bubbly bubbles

What a cool title 😛

Anyway, has been a while since I last posted something, short summary of my life here:

  • I live in Amstelveen, again 🙂
  • I went to Italy to vote for the referendums, really happy we won, anyway on the flight back to the Netherlands an Italian-Belgian woman said that the economic crisis in Italy is due to “those Romanians and Albanians that come here and took our jobs”. So, a half win for this country. Damn man, they took our jobs!
  • Trying to get rid of Google more or less. I like Google but anyway, better to disseminate services around than to rely on a single entity, and I got quite pissed when they introduced the feature in Gmail that evidence the “important” mails; so I got into this daydream in which I write to the typical pub girl that I had met the night before and she does not receive anything cause Google thinks I am less important. Nice reading on the IEEE spectrum magazine: “How I Learned to Live Google-free“.

Nothing more to say for now. Bye 🙂
